| Derek is not characterized by Spina Bifida, but rather his love of sports. He's an active child that will happily ride his bicycle, play basketball or wrestle with his dog. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty. |

| Derek loves his bike. He doesn't just ride it, he races it competitively on his school's track team! He loves hunting also and he's anticipating his 12th birthday so he can take his hunters' safety course. |

| A single family can have multiple disabilities. In Derek's family there is Spina Bifida, CAPD, eye conditions, asthma, scoliosis and depression. Even though we don't offer services to canines, the dogs have disabilities too! |

| Very active and academically bright, Malcolm is one of the top students in his class. He has three separate eye conditions that make it very difficult for him to focus. The main one is Nystagmus, which causes his eyes to flutter. Malcolm wants to be an architect. |

| Saul was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. Spina Bifida is a neural tube defect (a disorder involving incomplete development of the brain, spinal cord, and/or their protective coverings). Hydrocephalus is the abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the ventricles of the brain. |
